Educators Training

Register for a free workshop

Join us at the Discover Shorebirds Teacher Workshop as we deep dive into the lessons, supplemental activities, and additional resources available in the Discover Shorebirds curriculum! Made possible through funds from Environment and Climate Change Canada, this curriculum connects students to shorebirds, conservation, and the importance of coastal ecosystems.

Members of the Manomet and WHSRN education teams will go through the five lessons in the curriculum: What is a Shorebird?, Migration Mania, Tracking Shorebirds, Threats and Action and Why Nature Matters, highlighting activities and resources available to educators for free on the WHSRN website. Workshop attendees will participate in activities and share ideas and strategies for using the curriculum in different educational settings. We will discuss how to take the lessons and activities provided and develop engaging, hands-on inquiries that highlight the importance of ecology and conservation for migratory shorebirds in your community.

Educators will walk away from this workshop with the knowledge of how Discover Shorebird lessons and activities can support their work and the power to use these lessons to strengthen student connections with their community as well as deepen student understanding of environmental and ecological issues of today.

English/Spanish/French simultaneous interpretation will be available throughout the workshop.

We will hold one workshop directed to educators twice:

  • February 28 from 6:30-8:30 PM EST
  • March 6 from 3:30-5:30 PM EST
