Connecting the Dots: New Jersey Audubon’s International Shorebird Conservation Program

Translated from the Spanish by the WHSRN Executive Office

Delaware Bay was designated 37 years ago as the first site in the Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network (WHSRN) and is the current home of the Connecting Dots Program. This program was established in 2008 by the New Jersey Audubon Society. The focal species of the program is the Semipalmated Sandpiper (Calidris pusilla), a migratory bird that links South and Central America and the East Coast of the United States.  Learn about the WHSRN site and how the program connects partners from Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Nicaragua, and Mexico to monitor, build capacity, and protect shorebirds throughout their life cycle. The Semipalmated Sandpiper is a migratory bird that connects us. It is urgent that its habitats in Central and South America and Mexico be protected.
