Lesson 3. Making Tracks with Shorebirds

Learn about migration tracking technologies.

This activity introduces the science and technology behind several techniques used to better understand migration. The advantages and disadvantages of three types of technology will be reviewed and discussed. The lesson culminates with students tasked to design their own tracking plan to answer questions about a selected species. This lesson is most appropriate for Grades 6-8.
