September 6 is the World Shorebirds Day. A day not only to celebrate their incredible migration journeys but a day to promote research, monitoring and conservation of this amazing group of birds. One of the key events of the celebration is the Global Shorebird Counts that every year are held around this date. This year the counts will be September 3-9.

To join the celebration and to promote shorebird monitoring, the WHSRN Executive Office is holding a contest for all the WHSRN sites. Participate in World Shorebirds Day, and you can win a Kowa spotting scope for your site!
