Since 1997, biologists on Delaware Bay have been conducting extensive shorebird research, including\u00a0banding<\/a>, to guide conservation actions. On Delaware Bay, as at many sites, community engagement is a critical component of conservation efforts. Community engagement activities here include environmental education, beach stewardship, beach signage, volunteer and citizen science activities, and nature-based tourism. En mayo de 2017, la CCA apoy\u00f3 intercambios de dos sitios con la bah\u00eda de Delaware, a fin de ampliar la capacidad de los participantes y establecer relaciones que contribuir\u00e1n a fortalecer las redes de los corredores migratorios del Pac\u00edfico y del Atl\u00e1ntico de Am\u00e9rica del Norte. En el primero de estos intercambios, cuatro representantes de Dorchester, Nuevo Brunswick, Canad\u00e1, participaron en dos festivales en la bah\u00eda de Delaware y se reunieron con participantes locales y l\u00edderes comunitarios, con el objetivo principal de aplicar esta experiencia para consolidar y expandir su festival de Dorchester, que gira en torno a las aves playeras que durante la migraci\u00f3n de oto\u00f1o reposan en la bah\u00eda de Fundy. La MCFN resguarda en sus tierras comunales de la bah\u00eda de James un sitio de reposo primordial para aves playeras migratorias, nominado como sitio de WHSRN.
