Chilo\u00e9, un sitio clave para las aves playeras en la ruta migratoria del Pac\u00edfico<\/p>\n[\/mk_fancy_title][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1546969281296{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]\n

La isla de Chilo\u00e9, en el sur de Chile, es uno de los sitios m\u00e1s importantes para el Zarapito de Pico Recto (Limosa haemastica<\/em>) y el Zarapito Com\u00fan (Numenius phaeopus<\/em>) en el hemisferio occidental. Los humedales orientales de la isla albergan un estimado de al menos 21.000 Zarapitos de Pico Recto, el 27% de la poblaci\u00f3n mundial y el 99% de la poblaci\u00f3n de la costa del Pac\u00edfico de esta especie. Los humedales tambi\u00e9n sustentan al 61% de la poblaci\u00f3n del Zarapito Com\u00fan de la costa del Pac\u00edfico. Ambas especies se reproducen en Am\u00e9rica del Norte y se consideran de \u201cgran preocupaci\u00f3n para la conservaci\u00f3n\u201d en las Am\u00e9ricas, seg\u00fan el Plan de Conservaci\u00f3n para las Aves Playeras de EE. UU.<\/p>\n

Chilo\u00e9 ha sido reconocida como una de las principales prioridades de conservaci\u00f3n por varias organizaciones internacionales. Por ejemplo, BirdLife International ha designado a la mayor\u00eda de los ecosistemas de humedales orientales de la isla como \u00c1rea Importante para la Conservaci\u00f3n de las Aves y la Biodiversidad (IBA, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s).<\/p>\n

Humedales Orientales de Chilo\u00e9 – un sitio WHSRN de Importancia Hemisf\u00e9rica<\/p>\n[\/mk_fancy_title][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1546969355406{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]\n

En enero del 2011, 1.900 hect\u00e1reas de los Humedales Orientales de Chilo\u00e9 fueron declarados \u201cSitio de Importancia Hemisf\u00e9rica\u201d de la RHRAP (WHSRN, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s). Esta designaci\u00f3n cont\u00f3 con el apoyo expl\u00edcito de propietarios de tierras privadas y administradores de propiedad p\u00fablica, municipalidades locales y organizaciones comunitarias y el Ministerio de Medio Ambiente nacional.<\/p>\n

Chilo\u00e9 fue seleccionado por la Fundaci\u00f3n David y Lucile Packard (David and Lucile Packard Foundation) como un sitio prioritario para su portafolio de proyectos de conservaci\u00f3n del programa de aves marinas.<\/p>\n
