Partners
While the sites form the backbone of WHSRN, two groups of partners are critical to the implementation of the WHSRN mission and together comprise the membership. These are the Site Partners and the Network Partners.
Site Partners
Site partners are the foundation of WHSRN. Without site partners, conservation action would not occur. Site partners are organizations or individuals who directly support a particular site and are actively engaged in management, monitoring, education, and governance. Site partners might be government agencies, indigenous communities, nonprofit organizations, local communities or municipalities, academic institutions, research centers, businesses, and individuals. A site can have multiple partners.
Site Partners are responsible for:
- Making shorebird conservation among the highest priorities at the site
- Protecting and managing habitat to benefit shorebirds
- Updating contact and other information for the WHSRN website and database.
Network Partners
Network Partners are organizations that play a key role in the support of the Network. Partner organizations provide connections, funding, services and/or support to a number of sites on either a geographic (i.e. a large region) or thematic (e.g. training, education programs) basis. Network Partners include national government agencies, non-profit organizations, environmental convention secretariats, Joint Ventures and other conservation consortia.
